With these two programs you can generate fake traffic on a web site by re-loading a specified web page (or download link/image/script) repeatedly. It can have many purposes like:
- increasing the counter of a web page
- keeping you connected (preventing a web site like Yahoo Mail from logging you off after a period of inactivity)
- reloading a page millions of times
- downloading a link (web page, ZIP, EXE...) millions of times
- simulating clicks (for example on a link, banner, ad)

'SpeedLight' versus 'Web page refresh'

The difference between SpeedLight and Web page refresh is that SpeedLight only retrieve a HTML page from the specified web site (but it can download also any kind of file: a picture, a ZIP, movie, audio or a script file ...). No scripts are interpreted and because of this, SpeedLight is really really fast.

On the other hand Web page refresh is a full browser. Any Java, JavaScript or PHP script nested in the specified page will be interpreted. Because Web page refresh must not only to download the web page but also to render it and interpret the embedded scripts, it is much slower than SpeedLight and may require more bandwidth.

Which one you should use? If you want to increment a counter that is incremented/triggered by a simple download of a web page, then you should use SpeedLight. If you want to refresh a web page containing ads or you want to increment a counter that is incremented/triggered by a script embedded in that web page, then you should use Web page refresh.
